NETWORKS

Rather than rely on a fixed
list of Providers regardless of Member
demographics or size of the population being
served, we tailor our Vision-Care / Eye-Care networks
& programs to meet the specific needs & goals of
each Health Plan we serve. That includes
even considering where most of the
members live or work.

SCOPE OF SERVICES: Depending on whether we are providing Vision-Care services, Eye-Care services and/or Out-Patient Surgical services, we can offer:

• An “Optometrists-Only” Provider Network,
• An “Ophthalmologists-Only”
Provider Network, or
• A combined “Optometrists & Ophthalmologists”
Network.

Aside from the services we are providing, we like to have a Network Provider within a five-mile radius of most members’ homes or place(s) of employment.

We also want enough Providers in any dedicated Network to make sure that, for comprehensive eye exams and other ROUTINE matters, Plan members can schedule an appointment and be seen by a Network Provider within two-to-three weeks after the initial phone call. Of course, members with URGENT and EMERGENCY needs receive immediate attention. All FOPN Providers and their staff recognize the distinction between Routine, Urgent and Emergency care & treatment — and the importance of reacting accordingly.

LOCAL NETWORKS, LOCAL PROVIDERS: As we have said on our ‘SERVICES’ page, we don’t have just one Network for Health Plan administrators to accept on a ‘Take-It-or-Leave-It’ basis. We have a Network that is just right for your health plan and its specific needs.

And, if we don’t have an existing Network in place to meet those needs, we will create one. In fact, we can tailor a Network to meet the needs of each individual Health Plan we serve. When we do that, we take several important factors into consideration, including: ( a ) The scope of services we will be providing (Optometry-based and/or Ophthalmology-based); ( b ) the size of the of the Plan’s membership population; ( c ) the age and other pertinent demographics of the members; and ( d ) the general geographic distribution of those members (which relates to our five-mile-radius goal).

Taking that premise one step father, we may begin with x-number of Providers in a particular local Network and then incorporate additional Providers once we see that a substantial number of members have to drive father than our five-mile-radius goal in order to see a Provider or that, for routine comprehensive exams, Plan members can’t schedule an appointment earlier than three-to-four weeks.
